Strength and conditioning coaches
I signed up with a SBTC coach to train smarter. I had done a few tris but worked out that there was a lot I didn’t know about training and triathlons. I wanted to get a coach to reduce the risk of overtraining and injury and to help me get stronger and faster.
When I looked into coaching I couldn’t find anything that was competitive with the value of the coaching options at SBTC (especially when you take into account they can write your swim plans so you don’t have to pay for squad).
My entry into Triathlons started with a challenge from a work colleague to complete the Kingscliff Sprint Tri, a couple swims later in the pool and I realised I was going to need some help.
Google led me to South Bank Tri Club and with good timing they were just about to start their 6 weeks beginners course with Coach Simon, I loved every moment of this course and how it catered to all ability’s. The 6 weeks flew by and before I knew it was time for us beginners to graduate at Raby Bay Round 7 and I was hooked.
I decided I was again going to need some help for this 70.3 so I booked in an individual coaching plan with Simon to get me there, Simon’s plan was tailored to my abilities, time availability and also focused on areas that needed some extra work, as the weeks passed by my goal time got faster and faster and I settled on under 6 hours.
Simon has been an exceptional coach who was invested in my goal with me every step of the way and always knew what to say to keep me motivated and focused.
Ironman training is a tricky balance and Si was great at managing my training in an understanding and holistic way including work, study and nutrition. He kept my training specific and tough enough whilst managing to keep me injury free and just the right amount fatigued so that I was able to achieve my Ironman Goal and perform at my best. Simon has a wealth of training knowledge and is supportive, attentive and caring which as so important in the ups and downs of triathlon training. Thanks Si for getting me through all that work and onto the Ironman podium- team work really does make the dream work!
